This intentionally small-group workshop is designed to give educators a real, behind-the-scenes look at a transformed home childcare environment.
Together, we will explore how intentional indoor and outdoor environments can reduce overwhelm, support deeper play, encourage independence, and create calmer rhythms for both children and educators.
What the Day Will Include
Welcome & Introductions
We will begin by gathering, settling into the space, and discussing the head, heart, and hand of the transformation journey.
Indoor Classroom Tour
Participants will walk through the indoor childcare environment room by room. Then we will gather and discuss:
Environmental setup and flow
Materials and loose parts
Books, invitations, and visual supports
Mixed-age learning spaces
Creating calmer rhythms indoors
Reducing clutter and overstimulation
Boundaries between home and childcare
Outdoor Classroom & Garden Tour
We will move outdoors to explore the outdoor classroom environment and discuss:
Outdoor learning as curriculum
Gardening with children
Pollinator gardens and biodiversity
Mud kitchens and loose parts outdoors
Nature-based invitations
Child-led exploration outdoors
Simple ways to transform your backyard environment
Reflection & Discussion
Participants will have time for questions, conversation, reflection, and discussion throughout the experience.
